Assessing the Impacts of Fire on Breeding Mottled Ducks (Anas fulvigula) Habitat Use Along the Texas and Louisiana Coast
Pierce grew up in North Texas and received his BS in Natural Resource Management: Conservation Science from Texas Tech University in December of 2021, during which he worked as a research assistant on a variety of projects centered around the ecology of the northern bobwhite. After graduation he worked as a field team lead on the NOAA Firebird project investigating habitat selection of elusive marsh birds and mottled ducks and their interactions and overlaps along the Texas Gulf Coast until joining The Conway Coalition as a master’s student. He completed his thesis on mottled duck habitat use on the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast in Oct 2025. Pierce hopes to continue his career improving science communication research and further delving into public understanding of science particularly along the Gulf Coast.
