Mottled duck ecology on the Texas coast

Pierce grew up in North Texas and received his Bachelor of Science in Natural Resource Management: Conservation Science from Texas Tech University in December of 2021. During his time at Texas Tech, Pierce worked as a research assistant on a variety of projects centered around the ecology of the northern bobwhite. Since his graduation he has worked as a field team member and leader on the NOAA Firebird project investigating habitat selection of elusive marsh birds and mottled ducks and their interactions and overlaps along the Texas Gulf Coast. His research primarily focuses on mottled duck habitat selection and usage on the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast in addition to landowner relation and communication improvement survey work. Pierce hopes to continue his career improving science communication research and further delving into public understanding of science particularly along the Gulf Coast.
